Dress Codes at Work

Some time ago, Tim and I were discussing the choice of attire that women wore to work, the kind of dress that would cause a man to admire in a way that could get him fired. That is Business Slutty.

I know, I know, I'm a misogynist and a denegrator of women, but I'm right. Men's corporate dress codes are very universal--shirt, tie, slacks--and dull. A woman's corporate dress code can be conservative or with minor alterations it becomes...extremely provocative. Marketting, Accounting, Human Resources (the true irony)--women in these groups pull up their hemline, down their neckline, add an inch on their heels and slide into something to accentuate their curves.

Why shouldn't they look good? Hey, I'm not complaining. I like working near chicks in business slutty, I just don't want to work with chicks in business slutty. If they're trying that hard to look good, they're probably not trying as hard to actually work well. Sure, it's possible that chick in the tight mini-skirt and blouse sans bra is a MENSA member, but I doubt it. It just isn't likely to happen.

Save your indignation for a time when I'm wrong.
